Drought Lingers In Southeast Texas

Despite recent isolated rainfall over the past few weeks, the Southeast Texas Region remains in exceptional drought conditions.  Season forecasts continue to show minimal improvement through October 2011 without tropical influences.

The region remains in the 600-800 range on the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI), the highest and second to highest level of an index used to determine wildfire potential.
