The tropical weather system in the Gulf of Mexico has been upgraded to Tropical Depression 13. It continues to strengthen and is forecast to develop into Tropical Storm Lee over the next few hours. At this time, without change in the current models and forecast, it is not anticipated to bring any hazardous precipitation into Texas coastal region.
Although the storm is not forecast to bring major precipitation, the local impacts of the storm will be increased fire danger over the weekend. With continued severe drought conditions, the weekend forecast calls for increased wind speeds of 20-25 mph out of the NE, low relative humidity (30-40%), and temperatures in the 90’s.
