As the 2013 Hurricane Season gets intp full swing, Tropical Storm Erin, the fifth named storm of the season, has formed off the African coast. The storm is predicted to remain a tropical storm over the next few days as it continues its westward track.
Invest 92 had dropped from a 60% chance of development to a 50% chance this morning and has remained at 50% chance of development throughout the day. Currently the models are not quite in agreement as to the future direction of travel or potential intensity for the area of low pressure. Some tracks take it toward Mexico, while others shift it toward the Louisiana or Mississippi coast. More accurate model runs should be available over the next few days. This area is definitely one to monitor over the weekend.
