First Storm of Season: TS Alex

After a weeks worth of monitoring the tropical wave, we now have our first named storm of the season, Tropical Storm Alex. The storm is locaed just to the southeast of the Mexican Pennensula (see graphic) and is headding WNW at 8mph. The storm is predicted to loose strength as it moves over the mexican pennensula sometime Sunday. We will have a much better idea of the track of the storm and potential risk to our area once the storm moves into the Gulf. Currently minimal strenghening is expected as the storm moves into the Gulf, however, it is still early and conditions may change.

As always, anytime a storm enters the Gulf, stay informed, pay close attention to updates, and keep your gas tank topped off. I have attached a link to a good hurricane preparedness checklist from Harris County OHSEM. Check it out!
