Hurricane Danielle Forms in Atlantic…No Current Threat

Hurricane Danielle, the second hurricane of this season, developed in the Atlantic today. The National Hurricane Center upgraded the Tropical Storm to a Category 1 Hurricane shortly after 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Danielle is currently moving to the WNW at 17mph and is predicted to remain in the Atlantic over the next 5 days. The storm conditions are favorable for strengthening into a major hurricane during this time.

More importantly, the closest identified threat area is over the next 5 days remains out at sea and over 1360 miles offshore from Miami, FL. The current storm track and guidance models do not show any immediate threat to land or our region at this time.
