According to the National Hurricane Center and the National Weather Service, there is currently a tropical wave east of the Mexican peninsula that has 80% potential to develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm that could threaten the Texas coast. Currently, the primary threat would be heavy rainfall. The wave, if it strengthens has the potential to make landfall as early as Friday evening. Due to the potential rapid onset of this threat, it should be monitored closely.
