There is currently a tropical wave over the Northwest Caribbean that has the potential for further development in the Gulf later this week. There is growing confidence in models that show the system developing into a tropical storm over the next few days, however, there is little certainty in intensity and track forecasts.
The system should be monitored closely over the upcoming holiday weekend as there is limited time for personal warning and preparations if needed for systems that develop in the Gulf.
