At approximately 1000 this morning, Tropical Storm Richard formed in the Caribbean. Richard is currently Southeast of the Mexican Peninsula with 40mph winds and is moving to the SSE at 2mph. The storm is currently predicted to gain intensity to hurricane strength and move over the Mexican peninsula over the weekend. The current models show Richard entering the southern Gulf of Mexico with Tropical Depression strength late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. Model runs throughout the day have remained similar but may shift over the next few days. As the storm moves over land the forecast and model data may show substantial changes. More information will be provided as the storm enters the Gulf of Mexico.
