Continued Rain Threat for the Weekend

All,

The rainfall potential still exists for this weekend. Both the state and local OEM’s will be monitoring the risk of rainfall and tropical development close to the gulf coast over the next 2-3 days.

Expected widespread amounts of 2-3 inches through the weekend with isolated totals of 4-6 inches possible. Already just this morning locations from Seabrook to La Porte received 3-4 inches of rainfall. We may see some higher totals in a few isolated locations. At this time it appears the heaviest rains will focus along and south of I-10, but the entire area will be at risk. Given the high moisture levels in place excessive short term rainfall rates of 2-4 inches per hour will be possible. This may lead to rapid flooding of areas of poor drainage.
